How Do I Join?

How do I register for iCue?

It's easy — just register here.

Can anyone join iCue?

iCue is for people ages 13 and up. It is designed primarily with students in mind, but you do not have to be a student to join.

How old do I have to be to use iCue?

You must be at least 13 to join iCue.

Can I access iCue if I live outside of the U.S.?

Yes, you can! iCue welcomes participants from all countries. If you are using iCue from an international location (including Canada and Mexico), some of the NBC News video will not be available due to licensing restrictions.  You will see the following message in the Cue Card if the selected video is not cleared for international access: "We're sorry, but the clip you selected isn't available from your location. Please select another clip."

Do I need my parent's permission?

No, you can join if you are 13 or older without asking your parents. If you are between the ages of 13 and 17, we encourage you to share this information with your parents and let them know that you are joining. However, if you are under 18, you do need a parent's or guardian's permission to join the MIT research study.

Can my siblings or friends use my iCue account?

iCue stores your points and activity scores, essays, notes and Friends Network information along with your profile. Each account is designed for a single user. Sharing your account with siblings or friends will make it harder for you to track your own progress, and violates site policy if they are under 13. For friends and siblings 13 and up, we encourage you to invite them to join — you can send an email right from your personal profile to ask them to sign up! That way, you'll both have more fun.
